A useful look into the past
One of the many 20th Century attempts to impose a naming scheme on the different house paint, artist paint, textile, and flower colors. The authors provide a discussion of the problems but make some arbitrary choices.
Plate 2 is missing, as is the preceding key page.
This is the 1930 edition, not the 1950 one.
The complete encoding from MIT, available online, has some very odd scanned values. There could be a systemic problem with the gray background and yellowing of the Plate pages. I find these colors are rather dark but quite acceptable as house paints of the period.
